Visitor guidelines at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital - Elmbrook Campus
Our visitation policy allows us to provide a safe environment, high-quality care, and positive experiences when and where our patients need us.
Additional information for visitors
- Recommended visiting hours are 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. but are flexible to meet the unique needs and wishes of our patients. Patients have the right to decide who can and cannot visit them. Caregivers may also suggest limited hours due to the patient’s condition and physician’s recommendation. Please feel free to ask a caregiver if alternate visiting hours may be arranged.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Visitors of patients in isolation must follow the instructions provided in infection control policies and as instructed by the isolation signage. Visitors under the age of 12 may be restricted from visiting patients in isolation. For the safety of the patient and care team, visitors who fail to comply with isolation protocols will be asked to leave.
- Visitors showing signs or symptoms of infection or illness should not visit. Symptoms of illness could include cough, fever, runny nose, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, or sore throat.
- Waiting areas - We have created specially designed lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and in the main lobby. Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the Intensive Care Unit, the Emergency Department, Department of Surgery and Imaging Services.
- Language assistance - If you are hearing-impaired or have difficulty communicating in English, your nurse can help you get an interpreter at no cost to you.
- Parking - You’ll find plenty of free parking at all levels. Visitors are encouraged to use the main entrance surface lot, which gives you convenient access to the hospital’s main entrance. Handicapped parking is available throughout the campus.
Please note that Ascension Elmbrook Hospital is built on a scenic hill. Because of the landscape, there are entrances to the building on the first, second and third floors. - The main entrance is identified as the third floor
- The emergency/admitting entrance is on the second floor
- The associate/vendor entrance is found on the first floor
- Flower, gift, and mail deliveries - You are welcome to bring plants, flowers or gifts to a patient you are visiting. Please check with a caregiver before bringing gifts of food or drink. If you would like to have mail, flowers, balloons, or other gifts delivered to a patient, be sure to tell the vendor both the patient’s first and last names. Deliveries are made to our main reception desk.
