Our history

• 1988: Children’s Hospital of Austin opened its doors within the University Medical Center Brackenridge campus
• 2007: Dell Children’s Medical Center opened its doors in Central Austin as the city’s first freestanding pediatric hospital 
• 2013-2021: Dell Children’s Medical Center renovated three patient care areas, opened the inpatient mental health unit and constructed two new hospital towers, a specialty pavilion, and three parking garages for visitors and employees
• 2022: Dell Children’s Medical Center expanded its footprint to North Austin by opening a pediatric medical office building 
• 2023: Dell Children’s Medical Center opened its North Austin hospital campus as the city’s second freestanding pediatric hospital

Our Patient and Family Advisory Council

The Dell Children’s Patient and Family Advisory Council consists of family members, healthcare professionals and patients (16 years and older) who work together to create the ideal family-centered care experience. They help develop and evaluate programs, policies, facility design and education.
