Pediatric imaging, close to home
Pediatric radiologists and care teams at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Central Texas deliver radiology tests and procedures for infants, children and teens. Our experienced care teams work closely with your child’s doctor and pediatric specialists to deliver imaging that is part of your child's customized care plan. Your child and family will be connected to a full range of imaging and diagnostic radiology services on-site at Dell Children’s, including:
- Computed tomography (CT)
- Fluoroscopy
- Low dose computed tomography (CT) scan
- Magnetoencephalogram (MEG)
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Positive emission tomography (PET)
- Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)
- Ultrasound
- Video electroencephalogram (EEG)
- X-ray
- Other advanced radiology services
Your child’s safety is our priority. We’re the first pediatric hospital in Texas to offer a low dose CT scanner. This scanner uses less radiation and takes a clearer image in a fraction of the time as a traditional CT scan. Some conditions require routine imaging – our goal is to use the least amount of radiation needed to get a clear image.

Helping your child feel comfortable during imaging procedures
At Dell Children’s, we make imaging as comfortable as possible for your child. Many of our rooms have colorful designs that make the imaging rooms look like they are in a jungle or under the sea. Child life specialists are part of your child’s care team to help if they feel uncomfortable or nervous during imaging tests. Child life specialists can provide a playful distraction for your child during their test.
Using distraction techniques and quick imaging, we try to avoid using anesthesia for imaging. If your child has severe anxiety or is unable to stay still for their imaging test, have confidence knowing experienced pediatric sedation specialists are part of our team and can talk with you about options to help calm your child during imaging tests.
