Advanced craniofacial care for babies and children
When you choose Dell Children’s, you get a team of craniofacial plastic surgeons, pediatric neurosurgeons and craniofacial orthodontists dedicated to your child’s care. At your child’s first appointment, we provide a thorough evaluation, including advanced imaging. We can also review previous scans and medical records. Together, our care team delivers advanced, personalized care for congenital conditions from head to toe and those that occur after birth.
Reconstructive plastic surgery — Experienced plastic surgeons deliver advanced care for children with skin lesions, traumatic soft tissue and bone injuries, complex tumors, burns and congenital anomalies. We understand surgery can feel scary for your child and your family. Tell us your concerns and ask us your questions — big and small. Your child’s care team takes the time to explain the procedure to you and your child. We also explain what to expect before and during surgery and how to care for your child after surgery.
Cleft lip and palate care — We have the largest cleft lip and palate program in Austin that is approved by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. Your child’s care team includes plastic and reconstructive surgeons, orthodontists and speech therapists.
Ear molding and anomalies care — As part of the craniofacial program, our clinic delivers care for ear defects such as prominent ears, microtia (partially formed external ear), anotia (missing external ear), and misshapen newborn ears using ear molding. This technique can reduce your child’s need for surgery. Dell Children’s has a dedicated care team to address ear anomalies that need surgery.
Plagiocephaly care — If your child has abnormalities in their head shape, such as flat head syndrome (positional plagiocephaly), experienced specialists at Dell Children’s are here to provide diagnosis and treatment. When needed, your family will be connected with other specialists such as physical therapists.
