Visitor guidelines at Ascension St. Vincent Salem

Influenza Visitor Restriction

Thank you for your understanding as we strive to keep our patients, families, visitors and associates healthy and safe.

Indiana is experiencing a significant increase in influenza-like illnesses (commonly known as flu), In an effort to protect our patients, families, visitors and associates, Ascension St. Vincent is implementing updated temporary Visitor Restrictions, effective Thursday, December 19, 2024. This temporary restriction at our sites of care will assist us in limiting the spread of the influenza and ensuring that we are best equipped to provide exceptional care to our patients.

In alignment with the latest recommendations from public health authorities and city and state officials, visitation at Ascension St. Vincent sites of care will be limited, based on the following criteria:

  • No visitors with respiratory-like illness, fever or cough
  • No visitors under the age of 18 (unless they are the parents of a patient)
  • No more than two (2) visitors at a time

Ascension St. Vincent has implemented additional visitor restrictions for the safety of the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients in our care. Visitation will be limited to two visitors at time, and they must meet the criteria below:

  • Two (2) parents/guardians
  • Four (4) designated adults identified by the parents/guardians, not to exceed a total of six (6) designated adults

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours vary. We understand the importance of visitors to the healing process of our patients. If visiting hours are limited in certain units they will be posted.

Visitors should not come to the hospital if they are ill. They could spread their illness to other patients. Patients who have a disease spread by skin-to-skin contact may have their visits restricted. Please check with your nurse.

To reduce the risk of latex allergies, visitors are asked not to bring latex balloons as gifts. Latex balloons can be exchanged free of charge for mylar balloons in the hospital gift shop.
