About Evan R Kokoska, MD
Evan R. Kokoska, MD, is a pediatric surgeon at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Kokoska has the expertise to deliver advanced surgical care, including minimally invasive procedures, highly complex surgery, and more. Dr. Kokoska specializes in neonatal surgery and management of chest wall deformities. He starts by listening to understand your child and your health concerns. Then, we work with you to create a surgical care plan that's right for your child.
Dr. Kokoska also has a special interest in pediatric minimally invasive surgery, abdominal surgery, the surgical care for congenital anomalies, gastrointestinal surgery and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Kokoska is a native Hoosier and grew up in Riley, Indiana. Although he majored in Chemical Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, he has always wanted to apply the engineering thought process and concepts to medicine. Dr. Kokoska enjoys caring for the children and loves the challenge of achieving an operation with the least amount of trauma which translates to a faster recovery.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kokoska is also the Surgeon Champion for the Pediatric National Surgical Quality Improvement Project and the Medical Director of the Children's Surgery Verification Quality Improvement Program and his work helped enable Peyton Manning Children's Hospital (PMCH) to achieve the highest level of certification (Level 1) as designated by the American College of Surgeons. These programs allow all the surgery groups (including Pediatric General Surgery) at PMCH to constantly and in a real-time manner access our operative outcomes, as compared to other high level children's hospitals throughout the country and, in response to these measures, develop process improvement programs with the overall goal of improving the health of children in Indiana and the Midwest.
