Bhavana Sree Vangara Chapman, MDRadiation Oncology in Jacksonville, FL

Bhavana Chapman, MD, is board-certified in radiation oncology and practices at Cancer Specialists of North Florida's (CSNF) St. Vincent’s Riverside radiation oncology location. Dr. Chapman received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Florida before earning her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where she participated in the Physician Scientist Training Program. She completed her preliminary medicine internship at Baylor College of Medicine and radiation oncology residency at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She is skilled in advanced radiotherapy techniques including image-guided radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy, and stereotactic body radiotherapy to treat a wide range of cancers, including breast, lung, head and neck, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, genitourinary and central nervous system malignancies.

Originally from Tampa Bay, Dr. Chapman looked forward to returning to coastal Florida after finishing medical training. She was drawn to CSNF for its comprehensive, seamlessly integrated oncology model. The synergy between radiation and medical oncology teams, social workers, dietitians, and counselors allows her to prioritize a patient’s individual needs and to expedite their care. She is proud to be part of a multidisciplinary group that provides accessible, state-of-the-art care in community locations.

Cancer is an overwhelming health issue, and Dr. Chapman is her patients’ biggest advocate from the start. She counts it a tremendous privilege to be entrusted with their care during such a difficult time and strives to earn that trust at every interaction.

When not in the office, Dr. Chapman spends time with her husband and two children who like to stay busy. She loves bringing people together to celebrate milestones, both big and small. She also enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes.
