He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA. He completed residency training in orthopedic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and then did an extra year of subspecialty training at the University of Florida Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship in Gainesville, FL. He has contributed to over a dozen orthopedic peer-reviewed journal articles and text book chapters and has presented research at several national meetings. Dr. Holzgrefe is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).
