Professional Statement
I see medicine as ever changing art with only one constant and unchanging part - the backbone of compassion. The new knowledge you learn in medical school, from the books, internet databases and personal experience. Compassion is not learned - it is inherited. You are either born with it or not. If a doctor does not have compassion in his nature he is in the wrong field. It is my opinion that knowledge in the art of medicine is secondary to compassion and should be preceded by it, not the other way around. It is my opinion that if you lack compassion no amount of knowledge will fix this flaw.
