Alvise F. Bernabei, MD is a board certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine prior to completing his residency in General Surgery also at Wayne State University/ Detroit Medical Center. He then went on to receive his fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also received advanced specialty training in Aortic Aneurysm. He additionally has advanced specialty training in Transcather Aortic Valve Replacement from Colombia University in New York City.

Dr. Bernabei commonly treats Coronary Artery Disease, Aortic Valve and Aneurysm, Mitral Valve and Atrial Fibrillation. He commonly performs Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery, Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, Mitral Valve Repair, Maze, and Ascending and Aortic Root Aneurysm Surgery.

Dr. Bernabei currently practices at Ascension Medical Group Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates with locations in Grand Blanc and Rochester, Michigan. He held many previous leadership positions throughout his career including serving as a UNOS Board Representative for Thoracic Organs, the Director of Heart/Lung Transplant at Henry Ford Hospital, and the Director of Thoracic Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital. He has earned a variety of awards in the industry including the Veteran's Administration Hospital Award for Innovation and Quality and was recognized by Hour Magazine as a Detroit Top Doctor.

In addition, Dr. Bernabei is a published author in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. When not caring for patients, he enjoys biking, hiking and travel.
