Ryan J. Hendrix, MD, is a thoracic surgeon at Ascension Saint Thomas Chest and Lung Center in Nashville, Tennessee. After completing his fellowship training at Harvard Medical School - Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dr. Hendrix is excited to practice closer to home and use his expertise to deliver world-class care to the surrounding communities. He prides himself on providing personalized treatment plans that are patient-centered and comprehensive. Dr. Hendrix specializes in the management and surgical treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the lung, esophagus, airway, mediastinum, diaphragm, pleura, and bony structures of the chest.

Dr. Hendrix utilizes cutting-edge, minimally-invasive surgical techniques including robotic surgery, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), and robotic navigational bronchoscopy to diagnose and treat patients. He is committed to optimizing patient's recovery and minimizing postoperative pain by implementing evidence-based, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols.

Dr. Hendrix has a special clinical interest in early identification of lung cancer through lung cancer screening programs, advanced surgical treatments for lung cancer including complex segmentectomy and lung preservation strategies, robotic esophagectomy, and robotic tracheobronchoplasty for the management of tracheobronchomalacia. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and recipient of the prestigious American Association of Thoracic Surgeons (AATS) Thoracic Surgical Robotics Fellowship.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Hendrix enjoys long-distance running, hiking, bass fishing, and spending time with his family.
