Dr. Burrus is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Texas Medical Association, and the Travis County Medical Society. In addition, he is one of two surgeons in the Austin area who has been accepted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the leading shoulder society in the United States.
Dr. Burrus is currently a manuscript reviewer for three of the top-rated sports medicine and shoulder journals (Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, American Journal of Sports Medicine, and The Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery), teaches other surgeons, speaks at national conferences and has written over 60 research publications along with twelve book chapters and has been involved in over 70 research presentations.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Burrus enjoys golf, fly fishing, bird hunting, snow skiing, and spending time with his wife and two children.
