Emily D Tanzler, MDRadiation Oncology in Saint Augustine, FL

Emily D. Tanzler, MD, is board-certified in radiation oncology and practices at Cancer Specialists of North Florida's (CSNF) Fleming Island location and Flagler Health partner location. Dr. Tanzler earned her Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience and Animal Biology from Vanderbilt University and the University of Florida, respectively, before earning her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida. She was introduced to CSNF during her residency training, and upon completion of the program in June 2014, she joined CSNF. One of the founders of CSNF’s radiation oncology program, Dr. Tanzler is well-trained in treating common tumors involving the brain with accuracy and precision.

It is her goal to provide the care required to allow patients to maintain their quality of life during their radiation therapy treatment, so that they are able to enjoy time with their loved ones and continue to live an active life. Passionate about treating patients with metastatic diseases, Dr. Tanzler conveys that the technological advances in radiation oncology, even in the last 10 years, allow many disease sites to be treated in five to 10 days.

Dr. Tanzler has a special place in her heart for cancers which affect women. Although the diagnosis of these cancers can be devastating, she is very sympathetic to a patient's fears, placing emphasis on treating not just the cancer, but the patient as a whole. This is part of the reason she loves CSNF’s comprehensive approach so much. She is able to work with nurses, social workers, and registered dietitians to ensure that all of the patient’s needs are being met during the course of their treatment.

A Jacksonville native with deep roots in the area, it was only fitting that she returned home to serve her community. When not in the office, Dr. Tanzler enjoys spending time with her husband and family, visiting the beautiful St. Johns River and Jacksonville Beaches, and taking road trips to explore old Florida.
