Mohammad Y. Kalani, MD is a board certified neurosurgeon who practices at Ascension St. John Medical Center where he serves as the surgical director of the Heyman Comprehensive Stroke Center. He completed medical school at Stanford University and his doctorate in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Kalani completed fellowship training in Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute with Dr. Robert Spetzler. He also completed Skull Base Surgery and Neuro-Oncology Fellowships at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia under the guidance of Dr. Charlie Teo.

Dr. Kalani's expertise includes the surgical treatment of brain and spinal tumors, including tumors in the brainstem, pituitary tumors and those surrounding the skull base. He is one of the only dual-trained cerebrovascular surgeons in the state of Oklahoma and provides comprehensive treatment of brain aneurysms, vascular malformations, carotid and vertebral artery disease, stroke and Moyamoya disease. 

Dr. Kalani has a referral practice for bypass surgery and surgery of the cranial nerves. Additionally, Dr. Kalani performs surgery for degenerative and traumatic spinal diseases. Prior to arrival in Tulsa Dr. Kalani was a Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiology. He has published over 250 papers on various neurosurgical topics and remains active in clinical studies and trials.
