Brenda Ru-lan Chao, MDObstetrics/Gynecology in Cedar Park, TX

Dr. Brenda Chao is excited to be joining Oakwood Women's Center at Seton Williamson County. She attended The University of Texas at Austin where she earned her Bachelor's of Arts in Business Administration with a major in marketing and minor in biology. She later moved to New Orleans, where she received her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. Although she loved her time in NOLA and the delicious food, Dr. Chao wanted to move back home to Texas and started her residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. During her training she received several awards including Outstanding Resident, Resident Teaching Award, and first place in the TAOG Resident Research Symposium. Dr. Chao is a strong advocate for women's healthcare and chose the field of obstetrics and gynecology because of her desire to care for women throughout their transitions in life. Although she enjoys many aspects of her job, she has particular interests in gynecologic surgery and family planning and loves educating women about their bodies and health. Since graduating college, Dr. Chao always hoped to be able to move back to the Austin area and is happy to finally be able to start this chapter of her life and career here. She loves exploring the food scene in Austin and enjoys spin classes, and visiting Texas wineries.
