Alan Hawxby, MD FACS, a board-certified, experienced surgeon in abdominal transplant with Ascension St. John in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also serves as the Surgical Director of living donation at St. John Medical Center.

Dr. Hawxby has a clinical interest in kidney transplantation, minimally invasive surgery including donor nephrectomy, altruistic and paired donation, immunosuppression, expansion of the donor pool, and transplantation in technically challenging patients - including those with complex medical issues, the elderly, and patients with high BMI.

Dr. Hawxby believes that transplantation combines the most technological cutting-edge medical and surgical breakthroughs and uses them to help a challenging patient population live longer and more productive lives.

Dr. Hawxby delivers some of the most advanced surgical treatments and medication management to his patients with kidney failure. A native of Perkins, Oklahoma, Dr. Hawxby received his MD from the University of Oklahoma and his undergraduate degrees from Oklahoma State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. He completed a 5-year general surgery residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a 2-year fellowship in abdominal transplant surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Hawxby enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, reading, play the guitar, attending sporting events, and exploring as much of Oklahoma as possible.
