Rumi A. Khan, MD, FCCP, is a critical care medicine specialist and pulmonologist at Ascension Seton in Austin, TX. Dr. Khan is Lead Physician for Ambulatory Services and Associate Program Director of Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship Program. He also has an appointment as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School at University of Texas, Austin. He started his academic career in 2005 as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin where he led the smoking cessation and lung cancer collaborative programs. In 2010 Dr. Khan was appointed an Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Central Florida College of Medicine when he moved to Orlando to help build Critical care and Pulmonary clinical programs at Orlando Health hospitals. Dr. Khan was a crucial founding partner in establishing enormously successful intensivist, Inpatient and outpatient pulmonary and sleep programs of Orlando Health Medical Group. On the academic front he was the founding fellowship program director for Pulmonary and Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship Programs and was the Clerkship Director for University of Central Florida COM medical students' Pulmonary and ICU rotations. Dr. Khan has also been the founding director of the pulmonary physiology lab housing the PFT and Cardiopulmonary exercise programs. A versatile pulmonary critical care physician with over 20 years of experience in this subspecialty, Dr. Khan will be seeing patients with an extensive spectrum of pulmonary diseases. During his capacity as the lead ambulatory physician, Dr. Khan will teach and supervise the pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Fellows, medical residents and students during their outpatient Pulmonary rotations. However Dr. Khan's niche interests are advanced asthma, all forms of ILD, Sarcoidosis and neuromuscular respiratory disorder. Dr. Khan has five board certifications including Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, Neuro-Critical Care and Palliative Care/ Hospice Medicine. Dr. Khan authored many peer reviewed papers and book chapters and was co-investigators in NIH funded research projects on mobile phone based healthcare.
