Nicholas F. Ortiz, MD, is a board-certified, experienced psychiatrist at Ascension Seton in Austin, Texas. Dr. Ortiz serves as the clinical director of interventional psychiatry and neuromodulation as the clinical director of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and clinical director of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). He directs the treatment refractory psychiatric disorders clinic which diagnoses and treats severe mental health conditions such as severe bipolar disorder, major depressive depression and schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder. He also manages patients with treatment-resistant obsessive compulsive disorder with implanted deep brain stimulators (DBS) and patients with treatment-resistant depression with implanted vagus nerve stimulators (VNS). He prioritizes listening to and understanding patient's questions and concerns and works with them to create a personalized care plan.

Dr. Ortiz is a member of the American Psychiatric Society, International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation, and the Clinical TMS Society. He was recently recognized by Dell Medical School as Faculty of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Faculty Mentor of the Year.
