Dr. Manuel graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Biochemistry before earning his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he graduated at the top of his class. He completed his residency in general surgery and orthopedic surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and was elected Chief Orthopedic Resident during his final year.
To further specialize in joint replacement, Dr. Manuel completed advanced fellowship training in joint reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University in New York, one of the nation’s leading orthopedic institutions. While training alongside internationally recognized leaders in total hip and knee arthroplasty, he was honored as the most outstanding operative fellow.
Patients often ask when it is time to consider hip or knee replacement surgery. Dr. Manuel works closely with each individual to determine whether conservative care or surgical treatment is appropriate. When surgery is recommended, he performs total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision hip and knee replacement using minimally invasive, computer-navigated and robotic-assisted techniques designed to enhance precision and support recovery.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Manuel is an avid Longhorn sports fan and enjoys traveling with his wife and two children.
